Proposed SCHS rezoning for 2017/18 School Year
The Sumner County Board of Education is considering the rezoning of a particular area in the Station Camp High School (SCHS) zone. This rezoning consideration will send students to Beech High School (BHS). The Board is also considering the rezoning of a section in Gallatin that is currently zoned for SCHS. This proposed change will send students to Gallatin High School (GHS).
In an effort to reduce the increasing student population at SCHS and in an effort to have Knox Doss Middle School at Drakes Creek (KDDC) serve as a feeder school for BHS only, beginning in school year 2017-2018, students who reside in the outlined area attached to this page will be rezoned from SCHS to BHS.
All students who attend KDDC will then attend BHS.
In an effort to reduce the increasing student population at SCHS and in an effort to accommodate an already high out-of-zone request to attend GHS and in an effort to solve a transportation issue, beginning in school year 2017-2018, students who reside in the outlined area attached to this page will be rezoned from SCHS to GHS.
Students currently attending SCHS will be allowed to remain at SCHS. Sibling consideration will be considered.
The meeting will be a regularly scheduled Sumner County School Board of Education meeting. The rezoning considerations will be on the agenda. You are invited to drop by prior to the meeting beginning at 5:30 pm to view proposed rezoning maps and to ask questions of school district staff. Written comments and suggestions about the proposed zone lines will be taken. These comments will be studied by school district staff and provided to the Board of Education before it considers the new zones at its next voting session on February 21, 2017. You are also welcome to speak at this meeting regarding any agenda items, including the rezoning considerations.
Lastly, please contact your School Board representative if you have questions or feedback.
