Attention all SCS Elementary and Middle School parents:

This budget year our School Board was also able to address the last step in our district’s quest to eliminate the request for voluntary SCS-fees parent fees. As recently as 2011, our elementary and middle schools were asking parents to pay a $45 voluntary fee to help provide funding to their schools. This practice was done in order to offset a lack of funding within our district’s budget for things needed at the school level.

This year, we are proud to say that our School Board has eliminated fees entirely from our elementary and middle schools. Through sound fiscal planning and managing our budget over the past several years, we were able to eliminate the need for these fees.

Our Transportation Department has spent the majority of the day looking at road conditions in the White House, Millersville and Portland areas. We are still seeing significant accumulation of ice on several roadways that multiple buses travel in those areas.

We will assess road conditions tomorrow to make a decision for school on Wednesday. We are hopeful that the warmer temperatures forecasted for Tuesday will clear the remaining problem roadways.
