Sumner County Schools

Beech High School Teacher, Scott Wietecha, made history again this year in the St. Jude Rock ’n’ Roll Nashville Marathon, winning Saturday’s race for the seventh straight time. Wietecha finished the 26.2 mile race in 2 hours and 35 minutes beating more than 30,000 racers. Last year, he became the first person to win the race six times in a row.

He teaches physical education and coaches track and cross country at Beech. He wanted to prove to his students, that with practice and hard work anything is possible. Wietecha ran track and cross country in high school and college. He runs twice a day during the off season averaging 100 miles per week. He is married to Mary Wietecha, a teacher at Jack Anderson Elementary who greeted him, along with their two children at the finish line. Wietecha's Beech High School Class
